Helen Pauline Meadows Jiles

Dec. 3, 2012

Helen Pauline Meadows Jiles, 87, of Ten Mile, lost her battle with illness and passed away on Monday morning, Dec. 3, 2012, at her home.

A native and lifelong resident of Meigs County, she was a daughter of the late Juniper and Kate Alford Meadows and was preceded in death by four sisters, Ethel Dennisen, Ruby McHone, Gertie Bidwell and Etta Meadows; five brothers, Jubal, Carl, Juniper, Willie and Bryant Meadows; one grandson, Kerry Fugate; one granddaughter, Sharon Queen; and one step-grandson, Taylor Jerels.

She was a loving Christian mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed by her children, grandchildren and many friends. She was an avid Braves and Tennessee sports fan and an exceptional seamstress. She retired from Damy Industries and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters and one son-in-law, Charlotte Gable of Ten Mile, Gail and Virgil Queen of Niota, and Karen Griffin of Athens; seven grandchildren, James Gable and his wife, Gina, Scott Gable and his wife, Monica, Eric Gable, Randy Queen and his wife, Renee, Shelia Dilbeck and her husband, Pete, Lisa Nelson and her husband, Scott, and Kayla Griffin; great-grandchildren, Kristen Henry and her husband, Jon, Megan Gable, Kyle Walsh, Caleb Evans, Paige Gable, Wyatt Gable, Dusty Queen and his wife, Autumn, Chelsea Queen, Gavin Queen, Cory Dilbeck, Ryan Dilbeck, Taylor Nelson, Jordan Nelson and Dakota Minnis; three step-grandchildren, Brandon Jerels, Brittany Moreno and John O\'Brien; a special friend, Jerry Lankford; and many nieces and nephews.

In the spring of 2013, she would have been the great-great-grandmother of two.

The family wishes to thank Dr. David Byrd, for without him we would never have had her as long as we did. Amedisys Home Health and Hospice staff have been wonderful.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Porter officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Pisgah Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Gable, Scott Gable, Eric Gable, Randy Queen, Dusty Queen and Cory Dilbeck. Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Henry and Steven Wallace.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
