Ray Allen Phillips, 72, of Tellico Plains, was carried to the arms of our Lord, Jesus, by angels on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at his residence.



He was retired from L&N/CSX Railroad in Etowah, and loved to farm. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He was a very active member of Unicoi Baptist Church for many years and held the offices of Sunday school teacher, deacon and treasurer. He was a member of Brown Hill Masonic Lodge 613 and was a board member of Chota in Tellico Plains. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lena Phillips; and one brother-in-law, Otis Clapp.



Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Katherine Bradley Phillips of Tellico Plains; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Steve Boyd of Athens, and Sharon and David Freels of Dayton; two granddaughters and one spouse, April and Eddie Wilson of Tellico Plains, and Samantha Boyd of Athens; one sister, Sue Clapp of Knoxville; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Arlin and Ann Phillips and Lynn Phillips, all of Tellico Plains; and several nieces and nephews.



The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Prock officiating. Burial will be noon Wednesday in Unicoi Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 250, Decatur, TN 37322.



Myers Funeral Home of Tellico Plains is in charge of arrangements.
