Velma Stanley Johnson, 88, of Athens, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
She was born in St. Paul, Minn., and spent the majority of her life in Bar Harbor, Maine. A daughter of the late Bryant and Blanche Powers Stanley, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jorma Johnson; and one sister, Harriet S. Hammond. She retired from the Augusta Mental Health Institute and was of the Congregational faith.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Rita Johnson of Augusta, Maine; and one niece, Diane Maillet and her husband, Lee, of Athens.
Burial will be held at Hallowell Calvary Cemetery in Hallowell, Maine, at a later date.
