Mabel Kilpatrick Young, 92, of Niota, died Saturday morning, Nov. 24, 2012, at NHC Health Care of Athens.
A lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Elias and Elizabeth Shoemaker Kilpatrick, and was also preceded death by two sisters, Mae Shepherd and Lorine Haire; and one brother, Ernest Kilpatrick.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Niota. She was formerly associated with Dobbins Air Force Base, Civil Service and was a former member of the Niota City Council when it was an all-female council.
Survivors include one son, W.C. Young of League City, Texas; three grandsons, William K. Young and his wife, Lori, Aaron C. Young and Patrick L. Armstrong and his wife, Lori; two great-grandchildren, Tara and Blake Young; one brother and sister-in-law, Lt. Col. Arnett E. Kilpatrick (USAF retired) and Joyce W. Kilpatrick of Riceville; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, William Edmonson of Athens.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Niota with the Rev. Mike Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Niota Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be friends from First Baptist Church of Niota.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
