Iva Pearl Brown Sherlin, 84, of Sweetwater, went home to be with her Lord and savior on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Woods Memorial Hospital.
She was retired from the Sweetwater City School System after many years of service in the cafeteria department. She was the oldest charter member of True Gospel Baptist Church in Sweetwater, where she served as the church secretary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sherlin; an infant daughter, Clara Dean Sherlin; her parents, Willard and Rachel Brown; and two brothers, T.W. Brown and Ruble Brown.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Charla Sherlin and Ellen and Keith Tulloch, all of Sweetwater; one grandson, Preston Tulloch of Sweetwater; one brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Carrie Brown of Englewood; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Henry Sneed of Athens, and Inez and James Barnette of Niota; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Kyker Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Sam Loy officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Christianburg Baptist Church Cemetery.
