Leon Small, 72, of Niota, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was retired from the McMinn County Highway Department after many years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Glaphrie Small; two brothers, John and Jim Small; and one sister, Anna Goins; and one grandson, Tommy Lee Small.
Survivors include his wife, Gale R. Small of Niota; one daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Jackie Reed of Niota; three sons, Dennis Small of Niota, Keith Dewayne Small of Sweetwater, and Thomas Lynn Small of Athens; one adopted son, Robert Johnson; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister and brother-in-law, Stella and Jimmy Thearp of Niota; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday at Beulah Chapel Nazarene Church, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Dawson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Athens Federal Community Bank, c/o Gale Small, to help pay for funeral expenses.
