Virginia \"Bill\" Wilson Leach, 86, of Charleston, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at her home.
\"Bill,\" as she was called by her friends and family, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to all who knew her. She was a member of Charleston First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and the Woven Heart Quilt Bee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David Richard Wilson and Ora Bell Thompson Wilson; her husband, Wayne H. Leach; five sisters, Milly Turner, Mattie Shelton, Geneva Hagan, Wanda Rose Mendenhall and Barbara Wilson; one brother, Melvin Wilson; two nieces, Darlene Monore and Nilla June Rinehart; and one great-nephew, John Rinehart.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas R. \"Tommy Sr.\" and Betsy Leach of Cleveland; one granddaughter, Laura T. Leach of Cleveland; one grandson and his wife, Tommy Jr. and Beth Leach of Benton; one great-granddaughter due in March 2013, Ruby Isabella Leach of Benton; one brother and sister-in-law, Hugh O. and Laverne Wilson of Athens; one sister, Ida Lou Griggs of Athens; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; her special \"practice\" grandchildren, Marsa Garner and Jenny Alford; and her faithful caregivers and friends, Linda and Johnny Alford, Kathleen and Teddy Vore and Patricia Ogles.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Lake Walker and Tommy Leach (her grandson) officiating. Burial will follow in Benton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Ault, Micah Ault, Tim Sherlin, Dan Bettis, Bo Goforth and Johnny Alford. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Chattanooga of to a charity of your choice in her memory.
