Caroline \"Carolyn\" Mitchell Peck, 65, of Cleveland, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at her residence.
She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. An accomplished seamstress and cook, she was also an active insurance agent with Horace Mann Insurance Company. Above all, she was a devoted mother and wife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Leroy and Margaret Renfro Mitchell; two brothers, Bobby Mitchell and Ronnie Mitchell; and an infant sister, Naomi Mitchell.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, James Peck of Cleveland; her children, Shelley McCarter and her husband, Roy, of Cleveland, Chris Norton of Athens, Andrea Bredwell and her husband, Michael, of Decatur, John Peck and his wife, Ashley, of Nashville, Jayme Peck of Knoxville, Jim Peck and his wife, Robin, of Cleveland, Sherry Kirsche and her husband, Steve, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kim Sylvester and her husband, Chris, of Jacksonville, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Gail Finley and her husband, Robert, of Athens; one brother, Jerry Mitchell of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Sewee Cemetery in McMinn County with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Goforth, Joshua Norton, Hunter Ballew, James Peck III, Adam Mitchell and Chris Duggan.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Carolyn waged a courageous two-year battle with cancer, and the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Memorial Healthcare System Foundation, 2525 de Sales Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404, in memory of Carolyn Peck for Cancer Research or Cancer Support Services.
