Robert C. \"Bob\" Myers Sr., 76, of Jonesboro, Ga., and formerly of Athens, passed away on Tuesday night, Oct. 30, 2012, at Southern Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late A.H. and Claryse Davis Myers, he was born on July 21, 1936, in Athens. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Jo Watson Myers. He was a graduate of Tennessee Military Institute and Tennessee Wesleyan College.
He worked in the paper industry for 45 years. He was associated with Bowater Southern for 25 years in the paper making department and retired as vice president and general manager of Drytex, Inc., of Jonesboro, Ga. He was a member of Jonesboro First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro, Ga. He was an avid fisherman and a fan of the Atlanta Falcons.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert C. Jr. and Elizabeth Myers of Rock Hill, S.C., John and Wanda Myers of West Monroe, La., Richard and Kim Myers of LaGrange, Ga., and Steven and Tracy Myers of Woodstock, Ga.; and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Grove Cemetery with the Rev. George Freeman officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Services.
