Carolyn Queen McKinney, 71, of Athens, died Monday afternoon, Oct. 29, 2012, at her home.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Albert \"Bob\" and Helen Jack Queen, and was preceded in death by one nephew, Tracey Queen; and one niece, Queenie Wilson. She retired from Kmart as Human Resource Manager and was a member of First Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Scott McKinney of Athens; one daughter, TeAnna McKinney of Athens; two brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Calvin and Betty Queen of Niota, and Bobby and Carolyn Queen of Athens; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Carrie Moore Hashe and Norbert Hashe of Niota, Judy and Donald Herd of Athens, and JoAnn Bennett of Niota; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who were very special to her.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to her Kmart Family, Dr. Vickie Turnbough and staff and also Amedysis Hospice for their care and concern for their loved one.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Dalton officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Herd, Rick Brakebill, Glenn Cooley, Darren Winder, Leuty Vaughn and William Ratledge. Honorary pallbearers will be her Kmart Family.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Verd Baptist Church, 251 County Rd. 249, Athens, TN 37303; or the American Cancer Society, c/o Faye Forgety, 120 County Rd. 447, Athens, TN 37303.
