Robert Benny Hitchcock, 64, of Etowah, departed this life on Wednesday evening, Oct. 24, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born April 4, 1948, to the late Dorothy Melton and Frank Hitchcock in Etowah.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Zelda and Marquis Dotson III of Cleveland; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Harold and Leona Hitchcock and Malcolm and Linda Hitchcock, all of Grand Rapids, Mich., Johnie Hitchcock of Etowah, and Paul Hitchcock of Athens; three sisters, Alma and Robert Davis of Rockford, Sue and Robert Jobe of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Ann and John Boyd of Riceville; grandchildren, Asha J. Martin and Marquis Dotson IV of Cleveland; an adopted grandson, Tayjaune Hardy of Etowah; his life partner, Christine Lowary of Etowah; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church in Etowah. Burial will follow in Beth Salem Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will also receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home.
