Michael M. \"Mike\" Roland, 57, of Grandview, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at his
residence.

A lifetime resident of Grandview, he was a graduate of Spring City High School Class of 1973. He
was a self-employed farmer and cattleman. As a small child, he developed a love of horses. He and
Gena showed horses in this area for several years and won many ribbons.

He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his father, James N. Roland; one
brother, Thomas Ray Roland; and his grandparents, Edgar and Alma Reed.

Survivors include his companion of 33 years, Gena Hassler of Grandview; his mother and
stepfather, Leah Reed Dodson and Earl Dodson of Grandview; one brother, Jimmy Roland of
Grandview; one stepsister, Susan Dodson of Douglasville, Ga.; one niece and her husband, Tiffany
and Brad Rolison of Booneville, Miss.; one nephew, Nick Smith of Douglasville, Ga.; and one great-
nephew, Braden Rolison.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev.
Charles Armour officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Sulphur Cemetery.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rhea County Rescue Squad, 260
McGoffin Ave., Spring City, TN 37381.

Vaughn Funeral Home of Spring City is in charge of arrangements.
