Louise Jewel Bowerman, 92, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012.
She was born on Oct. 15, 1919, and was a lifelong resident of Decatur. She professed her faith at an early age and was a faithful member of Burkett\'s Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was Mother of the Church. She served as pianist for many years at Burkett\'s Chapel and Hickory Flat Missionary until her health started failing. She kept praising and giving and receiving blessings to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James U. Bowerman; her parents, Samuel L. and Nona Robinson; five brothers, Elijah Robinson, Thaddeus Robinson, Calvin Robinson, R.J. Robinson and Gene Robinson; five sisters, Maggie Robinson, Carolyn Kelso, Mattie Dobson, Frankie Smith and Janie Fleming; and one grandchild, Christopher Shropshire.
Survivors include four children and their spouses, James H. and Forestine Bowerman, Jewel and Claude Goldston, Janet and Willis Goldston and Leroy and Alinda Bowerman, all of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
