Trula Belle Ammons Glass, 86, of Knoxville, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Beverly Park Place Health and Rehabilitation in Knoxville.



A native and former resident of Athens, she was a daughter of the late William Ammons and Bertha Eva Ammons and was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Sue Boyd; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ammons of Liberty Hill near Englewood, and J.C. Bohannon and Lyness Carolyn Bohannon.



She formerly worked for Glass Grocery and Harrod\'s Market in Athens. She attended vocational school, where she received nurse\'s training, and later worked at Epperson Hospital and Athens Community Hospital.



She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Athenian Chapter 159 O.E.S., had served as president of Lee High Home Demonstration Club for two years and served on the McMinn HDC County Council for three years.



After moving to Knoxville, she was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and belonged to a musical band. She served as secretary to the Ladies Knoxville Shrine Club for two years. She did demonstrations for Kroger and Walmart, and was a volunteer for CAC of Aging.



Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Jane Glass of Athens; and special friends, Joyce Pappes and Lynn Elkins.



Graveside services were 11 a.m. Thursday at McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens with the Rev. David G. Elkins officiating. Family and friends assembled at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home for visitation at 10 a.m before the service and then proceeded to the cemetery.
