Fredy \"Gene\" Dawson, 61, of Tennessee, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012.

He was a member of Beulah Chapel Church of the Nazarene and served in the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Jr. and Alma W. Dawson.

Survivors include his former spouse, Betti Dawson; one daughter, Melanie D. Miller and Russ Barnes; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Nichoel Dawson; one sister, Sharon Barnes and her family; one brother, Gary Dawson and his family; four grandchildren; and a host of family, relatives, friends and friends of VFW Post 5146.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Beulah Chapel Church of the Nazarene in Niota with the Rev. Bill Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by Sweetwater VFW Post 5156 and members of the Monroe County Disabled American Veterans 93.

Visitation will follow the burial until 4 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 5146 Wounded Warriors.
