Ruth Victoria Brewer Sneed, 78, of Athens, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Carl Leathy and Iva Coffee Brewer and was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyal Eugene Sneed, on April 2, 2003; two sisters, Geona \"Jean\" Coleman and Sue Stewart; and three brothers, Paul Brewer, Edward Brewer and Virgil Jesse Brewer. She was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Athens Furniture Company.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Eugene Sneed of McDonough, Ga., and David Scott Grant of Tellico Plains; three daughters, Vickie Jeanette Strauss of Athens, Linda Marie Corley of Tucker, Ga., and Deborah Sue Wattenbarger of Athens; two sisters, June Carver of Athens, and Raye Washburn of Fruitland, Fla.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Clearwater Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
