Theda Mae Shamblin Womac, 87, of Athens, and a longtime resident of Calhoun, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Woods Memorial Hospital.
She was a daughter of the late William J. and Nealie Burris Shamblin, and was preceded in death by one sister, Willie Irene Hamby; and one brother, David Hershel Shamblin. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a longtime member of Hiwassee Baptist Church in Calhoun. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Bernice and James Hugh Blassingame of Athens, and Beverly and Larry Blassingame of Chatsworth, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, William A. \"Bill\" and Deloris Womac and Gary Wayne and Earlene Womac, all of Calhoun; her former husband, Thomas David Womac of Athens; 12 grandchildren, Dennis Blassingame, David Womac, Kim Mayfield, Rex Blassingame, Ronald Womac, Eric Blassingame, Theda Christy Plemons, Tyson Blassingame, Tammy Maloney, Tommy Blassingame, Heather Blassingame Bruce and Zachery Womac; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hiwassee Baptist Church in Calhoun with the Rev. Tyson Blassingame officiating. Burial will follow in Calhoun Cemetery with grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Ziegler Funeral Home.
