Bernadette Gagne Lessard-Schultheis

Bernadette Gagne Lessard-Schultheis, 91, of Athens, died Sunday morning, Sept. 23, 2012, at Morning Pointe of Athens.



She was born one of 12 children on Nov. 21, 1920, in Manchester, N.H., to the late Louis Gagne and Aurelie Bernier Gagne. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Lessard, who died in 1969; her second husband, Edward Schultheis; five sisters and five brothers; and one son-in-law, Bill Stuckey.



She lived life with joy, enthusiasm and a wonderful sense of humor. She was devoted to her family and friends. She was a very talented artist and creative seamstress and loved to travel. Coming from a large family she thoroughly enjoyed playing cards, games and having a wonderful time with her siblings and all their families. She greatly enjoyed the company of others. She will be greatly missed.



Survivors include three children and their families: her son, Richard Lessard, and his wife, Kathleen, of Pittsboro, N.C.; her daughter, Priscille Stuckey of Athens; and her son, Andre Lessard, and his wife, Anne, of Annapolis, Md.; five grandchildren, Robert, Jean-Pierre, Lisa Cudworth and her husband, Allen, Mark Stuckey and his wife, Ginger, and Alan Stuckey and his wife, Hailee; and five great-granddchildren, Kelly, Wesley, Jared, Andrew and Holden; and one sister, Claire DesMeules of Hollywood, Fla.



Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary\'s Catholic Church, located at 1291 E. Madison Ave. in Athens, with Fr. Patrick Brownell officiating.



In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Mary\'s Building Fund, 1291 E. Madison Ave., Athens, TN 37303.
