Carrie R. Thomas, 91, of Riceville, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, in her home surrounded by her loving family.



She was born in Marion, Ind., to the late Clarence and Blanche Olvey Curtis. She married Gerald I. Thomas on Dec. 7, 1957, and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2001. She retired from RCA in 1982. She was a member of Short Creek Baptist Church and was a previous member of Liberty Mills Nazarene Church in Ft. Wayne, Ind. She enjoyed bird watching, doing number puzzles and living life to the fullest.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Blanche Curtis; her husband, Gerald I. Thomas; one brother, Marion Curtis; and four sisters, Helen Sargent, Dorothy Kinman, Mary Geesaman and Florence Campbell.



Survivors include one daughter, Patty Spaulding Sheppard of Tennessee; one stepdaughter, Gloria Thomas; one stepson, Mick Thomas; one grandson and his wife, William and Yvonne Spaulding; five great-grandchildren, Crystal, Brandon, Nikki, Matthew and Angel; three great-great-grandchildren, Aiden, Izac and Layla; and one sister, Clara Guthrie of Winchester, Ind.



Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, located at 400 East Main Street in Gas City, Ind., with Pastor Terry Fitto officiating. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery in Fairmount, Ind.



The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Mills Nazarene Church in Ft. Wayne, Ind., or Short Creek Baptist Church in Tennessee, both in care of the funeral home.
