Imogene Ross Sharits Kerr, 84, of Hamlet, N.C., and formerly of Athens, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012.
She was a resident of Athens until she moved to Hamlet in 2000 to be near her daughter. She was a longtime member of Westview Baptist Church and was retired from Van Raalte Hosiery Mill.
A daughter of the late Thomas Eugene and Lily Mae Roderick Sharits, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Venton Kerr; five sisters, Marjorie Branam, Mamie Rich, Willie Mae Sharits, Stella Billings and Juanita Keith; and two brothers, the Rev. Charles Millard Sharits and George Sharits.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Saundra K. and Jim Ed Lankford of Hamlet, N.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael V. and Cindy Kerr of John\'s Creek, Ga.; two grandchildren, Janine Waits of Harrisburg, N.C, and Jim Lankford of Granite Quarry, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Waits, Sara Waits, Madison Lankford and Sydney Lankford; and one brother, Johnny Powell Sharits of Hudson, Fla.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with her son-in-law, the Rev. Dr. James E. Lankford, officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday in McMinn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
