Betty Richards Seymour, 77, of Athens, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at her home.
She was an active member of Niota United Methodist Church. After retiring from Thomas & Betts, she performed extensive volunteer work through many community outreach programs.
A daughter of the late Franklin and Louise Brown Richards, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow \"Woodie\" Seymour; one daughter, Deborah Quinn Thomas; and one brother, Pete Richards, formerly of Riverside, Calif.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Quinn Brooks of Englewood; one son, Thomas G. Quinn of Englewood; one stepdaughter, Bonita S. Hammonds and family; one stepson, Terry Seymour and family; two grandchildren, Emily E. Thomas and Nicholas Q. Brooks; one great-granddaughter, Haleigh B. Smith; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Lyons of Ojai, Calif.; two nieces, Anne Carper of Ojai, Calif., and Margi Barrie of Jackson Hole, Wyo.; and one nephew, David L. Richards of Chatham, N.J.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Joshua Felton, Pastor Bob Hamilton and Tom Quinn officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday, and will proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 11 a.m. burial.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Swafford, Randy Butcher, Wendil Cardin, Donovan Borman, Mark Cobble and John Graham.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to American Cancer Society, c/o Faye Forgety, 120 County Road 447, Athens, TN 37303; or the Niota United Methodist Church Building Fund.
