Mildred Ann Charles, 84, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012.
A native and lifelong resident of Tennessee and a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Edith Brown Ledbetter; her husband, Gene Charles; three brothers, John E., Walt and Jerry Ledbetter; four sisters, Lena Brown, Carol Robertson, Willie B. Ledbetter and Thelma Humphrey; and one sister-in-law, Joann Charles.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight \"Pokey\" and Helen Charles of Decatur, and Wayne and Joan Charles of Starke, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Mitchell Miller and Pat and David Skidmore, all of Decatur; two sisters, Chris Spurling of Polk County, and Dorothy Harvey of Cleveland; grandchildren and their spouses, Jackie and Joyce Charles, Jeff and Jenny Charles, Tesha and Tim Sloan, Sandy and Greg Womac, Tony and Lisa Charles, Richie and Lois Skidmore, Kasey Skidmore, Jason and Star Miller, Kristy Miller and Troy Perry, April Miller and Mary Eaton; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Graves and the Rev. Bill Pearman officiating and Steve Stephens speaking. Burial will follow in Beta Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tony Charles, Jason Miller, Jeff Charles, Richie Skidmore, Kasey Skidmore, Jackie Charles and Troy Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Womac, Tim Sloan and Paul Fulghum.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
