Evelyn L. Scoggins Barber, 85, of Cleveland, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at her home.
She was a member of East Side Church of Christ for more than 65 years. She was retired from American Uniform, where she was employed as a seamstress for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Barber, who passed away April 24, 2012; her father, Erbie Scoggins; her mother, Ellen Brannan; four brothers, Thomas Scoggins, J.R. Scoggins, Don Scoggins and Frank Scoggins; and one sister, Peggy Johnson.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy M. and Conrad Duke, Beverly A. and Bill Flowers and Joyce L. and Richard Bennett, all of Cleveland; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald \"Jerry\" and Elaine Barber of Englewood; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Garrett of Cleveland; and special friends and neighbors, Mae, E.L. and Josh Hindman, all of Cleveland.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Minister Jeff Archey and Minister Bill Maynard officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony.
Pallbearers will be Randall Bennett, Rodney Bennett, Roger Bennett, Chris Flowers, Gerald Barber Jr. and Justin Bennett serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
