Lida Carol Melton, 70, of Etowah, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
A daughter of the late L.V. and Lillian Butler, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Burrell and Persey Butler; and one sister, Hazel Butler.
Carol had a special ministry. She would go to the jails and minister to women that were in there.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie Melton of Etowah; and five children, Naomi Melton, Elaine Davis, Jerry Jones, Jeff Williams and Paul Williams.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Pat McCulley officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Delano Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
