Floyd Thomas \"Tom\" Boatman, 73, of Anderson, S.C., died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at his residence.
Born Feb. 15, 1939, in Englewood, he was a son of the late Floyd Alexander and Minda Vaughn Boatman. He retired from Lockheed Martin Corporation in 1988 as a quality control engineer in Marietta, Ga. He dearly loved his family, friends, fishing, gardening, CB radios and computers. He was a member of Nelms Masonic Lodge 323 F&AM in Smyrna, Ga. He was preceded in death by one brother, Thelbert D. Boatman.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Millie Jones Boatman; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise Larson and her husband, Doug, of Anderson, S.C., Melody Boatman of Kennesaw, Ga., and Teresa Applewhite and her husband, Michael, of Anderson, S.C.; five grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Larson, Nicholas Larson, Kelsey Applewhite, Dillon Applewhite and Connor Applewhite; and one brother, Charles W. Boatman.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at McDougald Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Bailey officiating.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621; or to your favorite charity.
