Richard Edwards, 57, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, July 4, 2012, at Life Care Center of Athens following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A longtime managing editor of The Daily Post-Athenian, he was also a lifelong member of Calhoun United Methodist Church.
He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family in this community, as well as his church family.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Calhoun United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Services.
A complete obituary, including survivors, will be included in Friday\'s edition of The Daily Post-Athenian.
