Raymond G. Melvin Jr., 63, of Calhoun, died Sunday morning, June 10, 2012, at his home.
A native of Bluefield, W.Va., and a resident of Calhoun since 2005, he was a member of the Church of Christ and had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was an employee of Shaw Industries in Decatur, a former manager for Carl\'s Jr./Hardee\'s Company for 15 years and was an avid woodworker. A son of the late Raymond G. Melvin Sr., he was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Melvin.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Jamie Hodsden Melvin of Calhoun; his mother, Macie Burton Melvin of Maryville; one son, Joshua Hodsden of Calhoun; one daughter, Rachel Grayson of Calhoun; four grandchildren, J.J. Pritchard, Jacob Grayson, Lucas Grayson and Eli Grayson; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Brenda and John Gilberto of Crivitz, Wis., and Gloria Miller of Maryville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rod and Sandra Melvin of Maryville, and Terry and Chris Melvin of Illinois; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Carol W. Hodsden of Calhoun; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Hodsden officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Upper Spring Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dale Bankworth, James Hodsden, Josh Hodsden, Michael Hodsden, Roy Grayson and Richie Duggar.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
