Roy Quay Mayfield, 76, of Etowah, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.



A native and lifelong resident of Etowah, he was a member of Old Salem Baptist Church. He was retired after 32 years from Crown Cork and Seal in Chicago, Ill.



A son of the late King David \"Dave\" and Lizzie Jane Mayfield, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Daniel Mayfield, David Carroll Mayfield and Walter Raymond Mayfield; and two sisters, Dorothy Ruth Nichols and Margaret Annaline Lewis.



Survivors include his former wife and friend, Sue Mayfield of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne M. and Vance R. Lingerfelt of Athens; one brother, William McKinnley \"Bill\" Mayfield of Etowah; two sisters, Opal Joyce Belcher and Betty Lou Miller, both of Etowah; and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Jimmy Jackson officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and proceed to Green Hill Cemetery for the 11 a.m. burial.



Pallbearers will be Randy Belcher, Russell Lingerfelt, Jeff Wolfe, Doug Ezell, Johnny Padgett and Chester Brannon.



The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
