Gregory Lee Pilcher, 46, of Athens, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at his residence.
Born in Ocala, Fla., on Nov. 18, 1965, he was a son of the late James Pilcher and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force with more than 10 years of service, receiving the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award and the Air Force Good Conduct Award.
He lived in Florida until relocating to Athens a little more than seven years ago. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in biology/pre-med and worked many years as a registered nurse. He was an ordained minister and was currently pursuing a Master of Religious Arts degree from Brewer Christian College.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael W. Pilcher.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother and stepfather, Elizabeth and Andrew Wallace of Athens; a special niece, Ashley Pilcher of Athens; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Becker officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors.
