Eleanora Jacqulyn \"Jackie\" Barnett, 77, of Athens, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at NHC Health Care of Athens.
A native of Monroe County and a resident of McMinn County since 1952, she was a daughter of the late Claude Maynard and Gertie Jackson Purdy, and was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Herman B. Barnett, on Aug. 21, 2009; three sisters, Kathleen Clevenger, Shirley Sledge and Annabelle Thomas; and one brother, Landon Purdy. She was a member of East Athens Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Doug Jones of Franklin, and Donna and Steve Gilliam of Athens; four grandchildren, Nicole Passarella and her husband, Nick, Brittany Groves and her husband, Chris, Holly Gilliam and Haley Gilliam; five great-grandchildren, Zack Passarella, Issac Passarella, Maggie Passarella, Audrey Groves and Eli Groves; one brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Carolyn Purdy of Dalton, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were 3 p.m. Sunday at McMinn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Glenn Gregg officiating.
The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
