O\'Lene Cravens

May 1, 2012

O\'Lene Cravens was 94 years young when she passed over into Heaven in the early hours of Tuesday, May 1, 2012, to be greeted by many waiting loved ones.

She was born June 9, 1917, in Brownwood, Texas, to the late Willie and Emma Jane Curry. She was the baby of their six children. She will be remembered as a spunky, optimistic lady who always made the best out of every situation and never tooted her own horn.

She married the love of her life, Errett \"Frosty\" Cravens, in December 1936. They celebrated 52 years of marriage before his passing in October 1988. She worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. in the early years of their marriage. Frosty and O\'Lene were highly involved in the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star Order while they lived in Borger, Texas, and Havre de Grace, Md., prior to moving to Etowah.

She was a member of St. Paul\'s United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was instrumental in helping to start the Meals on Wheels program in Etowah and loved doing volunteer work at the Woods Memorial Hospital gift shop for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Errett \"Frosty\" Cravens; five siblings, Dolly Inmon, Elta Curry, Lawson Curry, Velma Kinney and John Curry; and her beloved niece, Martha Ramsey, and nephew, Jim Ramsey.

Survivors include three nieces, Dollye Yeargan of Gainesville, Texas, JoAnn Hawkes of Granite Shoals, Texas, and Mary Cope of Sapulpa, Okla.; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Our dear aunt will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to express their sincere love and gratitude to Aunt O\'Lene\'s precious friends, Patricia and Brunner Young, who have lovingly cared for her for many years. We also extend our appreciation to the nurses and caregivers of McMinn Memorial Nursing Home - all special angels. God bless each of you.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Monday at Bordwine Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Etowah Cemetery with Dr. Rick Cope officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woods Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, 886 Hwy. 411 N., Etowah, TN 37331; or to the St. Paul\'s United Methodist Church Choir Department, P.O. Box 581, Etowah, TN 37331.

Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements. If you are unable to attend, sign the guest registry at www.bordwinefuneralhome.com
