Lucille McKinney King, 83, of Athens, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, surrounded by her loving family.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Luther \"Doc\" and Artie McKinney, and was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Carl King, on Nov. 21, 2004; one sister, Della McKinney Jeralds; and four brothers, James McKinney, Robert McKinney, Johnny McKinney and Carl McKinney.
She attended East Athens Baptist Church and was a former member of Valley View Baptist Church. She retired in 1996 from Days Inn Motel of Athens and was a former employee of Olan Mills Photography.
Survivors include one daughter, Elaine King; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James and Pat King, Wayne and Wanda King and Don King, all of Athens; one granddaughter, Kristy King Layman of Niota; two great-grandchildren, Makayla Layman and Kaid Layman; a special niece, Geraldine Rollins; and several other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Griggs officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Donny Anderson, Ronny Anderson, Doyle Chambers, Brent Frank, John Knox and Rusty Rollins.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.
