James \"Dock\" Kenneth Lankford, 83, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2012.
He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and was a member of Meigs Masonic Lodge 213; Steel Workers Union Rockwood, where he served as president; and Teamsters Oak Ridge, where he served as committeeman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara \"Eaves\" Lankford; his stepmother, Frances Lankford; two brothers, John F. and Ralph Lankford; and one sister and brother-in-law, Iva and Earl Porter.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Imogene Lankford of Decatur; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Candi Lankford of Athens; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Cubby Lankford and Garland and Gay Lankford, all of Decatur; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Lankford and Dolores Lankford, both of Decatur; one sister, Faye Akens of Sweetwater; three grandchildren, Taylor, Carter and Luke Lankford; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Graves and the Rev. Charles \"Dump\" Armour officiating. Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Crock Armour, Steve White, Joe DeBusk, Terry Brown, Glen Craighead and Bobby Dennis.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
