Howard Edward \"Ed\" Hicks, 75, of Athens, died Saturday evening, April 28, 2012, at his home.
A native and lifelong resident of Athens, he was a son of the late King and Zenobia Stansberry Hicks. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Goins Hicks; and one brother-in-law, Charles \"Curly\" Burke.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Chris McMinn of Athens; two sons, Teddy Hicks and Jeff Hicks, both of Athens; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Chuck Riedel, Lucille Burke and Jane and Bill Johnson, all of Athens; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Betty Hicks and Curt and June Hicks, all of Athens; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
At the request of Ed, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service.
Dearly loved by friends and family, he will be deeply missed by all.
Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
