Gene Ruth Campbell Pierce, 64, of Athens, died Wednesday night, April 25, 2012, at her home.
A native of Norwich, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Robert A. Campbell and Mary Sophia Messenger Campbell Slater, and was also preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Campbell. She was a member of Beulah Chapel Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Ronald L. Pierce of Athens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Garland Goforth of Athens, and Ronda and Bob Sayers of Dalton, Ga.; one grandson, Nathan Goforth; two granddaughters, Emilee and Hannah Goforth; 10 sisters, Roberta A. McDonald of Athens, Linda Moser, Sonya Brown and Tenny Fragiadakis, all of Sweetwater, Vicky Campbell of Niota, Nancy Hanson of Charleston, Lisa Davis of Niota, Kathy Gowan of Hastings, Fla., and Teresa Derrick and Rickie White, both of Niota; and 10 brothers, Robert L. Campbell of Niota, Donald A. Campbell of Sweetwater, Gary D. Slater of Athens, Wayne Campbell of Niota, Terry Campbell of Bertram, Texas, Carl Campbell of Philadelphia, Allen Campbell of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dean Campbell and Danny Moses, both of Niota, and Daniel Moses of Riceville.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Beulah Chapel Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Richard Reed officiating. The church is located at 270 County Road 231 in Niota. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the church cemetery with the Rev. Jeffrey Pierce officiating.
Pallbearers will be Donald A. Campbell, Gary Slater, Wayne Campbell, Dean Campbell, Allen Campbell, Daniel Moses, John Pierce and Terry Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert L. Campbell and Carl Campbell.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
