Anna Hennessee Norris, 98, of Athens, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at NHC Health Care of Athens.
She was born April 30, 1913, in Athens and was the oldest child of the late Harl E. and Fannie Vincent Hennessee. She was preceded in death by an infant son; one sister, Ruby H. Harrison; three brothers, Arthur, Arlen and Johnie Hennessee; one grandson, Larry Hill; and one nephew, Jackie L. Hennessee. She made her home in California for more than 60 years with her late husband, W.L. Norris, before moving to Morning Pointe of Athens in November 2007. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Charles Dennis Hill of Silver Spring, Md.; four grandchildren, Ann Hendrix of Ranger, Ga., C.L. Hill and Wanda Scott, both of Calhoun, Ga., and Charlie Hill of Ijamsville, Md.; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; 25 nieces and nephews; numerous great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; one sister, Mattie Cate of Riceville; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Charlie and Betty Hennessee of Athens, Billy and Hazel Hennessee of Decatur, and Pearl Roberts of Calhoun.
The family would like to thank the staff of Morning Pointe of Athens for providing Anna with a wonderful home and care for the past four years, and the staff of NHC Health Care for their compassion and care for the past weeks.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Park in Westminster, Calif.
