James Robert Morgan, 79, of Decatur, died Sunday afternoon, April 15, 2012, at his residence.
A native of McMinn County, he spent most of his life in Meigs County and was a son of the late Charlie and Lavadie Mae Hope Morgan. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Johnny, Charles D., Joney and Albert \"Doc\" Morgan; and two sisters, Grace Miller and Charlsey Trusley. He was a longtime member of Concord United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Emma Lou Morgan of Decatur; one daughter, Lavadie Pauline Morgan of Decatur; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy C. Sr. and Becky Morgan and the Rev. James L. and JoAnn Morgan, all of Decatur; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Gordon L. and Juanita Morgan of Gary, Ind.; one sister, Alice Ballard of Morristown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Ziegler Funeral Home with his son, the Rev. James L. Morgan, officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
