Essie Givens Wilson, 70, of Athens, died Saturday morning, April 14, 2012, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Jackson County, and a longtime resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Andy and Mary Eugena Holmes Givens and was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Billy Dean Wilson; one brother, Billy James Givens; and two sisters, Lucy Sircy and Bessie Timmons. She was a member of Boyd Memorial First Church of God.
Survivors include one son, Billy Wilson of Athens; one grandson, Wayne Wilson of Athens; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel and Clifton Givens of Carthage, and Nellie Pearl and Jim Carver of Hartsville; one brother, Jesse \"Pap\" Givens of Granville; one nephew and his wife, Steve and Kim Chandler of Athens; and one great-nephew, Beau Chandler of Athens.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Kincannon officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Idlewild Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
