Henry Taylor Rose, 78, of Cleveland, died Monday, April 9, 2012, at his home.
He was the oldest charter member of Unity Church of God, where he served as trustee. He spent most of his life in Cleveland and was retired from Maytag after 19 1/2 years. He had an associate\'s degree in electronics from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Ollie Rose; three sisters, Mary Womack, Inez Wright and Eva Townsend; one brother, William Rose; and two sons, John Henry Rose and Henry Taylor Rose Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Jeraldine Simpson Rose of Cleveland; six children and their spouses, Dinah Calfee, Donnie and Kim Rose, Elizabeth and Rick Flowers, Linda and Randy Byers, David and Margaret Rose and Matthew and Angie Rose, all of Cleveland; two sisters, Maybelle Ogle and Lucille Carter, both of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Rev. Grady Simpson, the Rev. David Rose and the Rev. Barry Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
Pallbearers will be Randy Byers, Rick Flowers, Kenny Saxe, Tony Smith, Jeff Lewallen and James Stokes. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Rose, Blake Rose, Brian Rose, Jason Calfee, Richard Simpson and William Winters.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
