Thomas Lee Rollins

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Lee Campbell and Mary Jane Queen Rollins, and was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Rollins. A member of First Baptist Church of Riceville, he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marines, with whom he participated in the action at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands from April 1, 1945 to June 21, 1945, and in the Occupation of China from Oct. 11, 1945 to March 2, 1946.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Elsie Letha Moses Rollins of Riceville; three daughters, Virginia Rollins and Brenda Rollins, both of Riceville, and Sheila Rollins of Athens; five sisters, Mildred Vincent of Athens, Frances Mendenhall and Betty Coleman, both of Chattanooga, Barbara Ann Morgan of Ooltewah, and Nancy Ferguson of Athens; three sisters-in-law, Geraldine Rollins, Joyce Moses and Beulah Chandler, all of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Roach and the Rev. Ray Fowler officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be the men of First Baptist Church of Riceville. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Men\'s Sunday School Class of the church.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
