David Leroy Carroll

David Leroy Carroll, 68, of Athens, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at Woods Memorial Hospital.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Billy and Zela Mae Wattenbarger Carroll, and was preceded in death by one son, David Allen Carroll; and one brother, Earl Carroll. He was a former employee of Athens Furniture Craft.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Brenda Newman Carroll of Athens; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda and Phillip Watson and Gena Monroe, all of Athens; two granddaughters, Tristen and Chasity Hammonds; two beloved nephews, Ricky and Cody Martin; one sister, Marie Hardridge of Detroit, Mich.; and one sister-in-law, Evelyn Martin of Athens.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Freddy Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chris York, Phillip Watson, David Gennoe, Johnny York, Jack Braden and Chris Atkins.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
