Thomas F. Underwood

Thomas F. \"Bud\" \"Bush\" Underwood, 80, of Bristol, Va., died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center in Winchester, Va.

He was born on May 21, 1929 in Meigs County, to the late Will and Gussie Underwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Glenn Alan Underwood; one granddaughter, Emily Ann Bauserman; two brothers, Harvey and Bob Underwood; and one sister, Cleo Underwood. After moving to Bristol, Va. in 1949, he met the love of his life, Margaret R. \"Peggy\" Groves, whom he married on Nov. 26,1949.

He was the owner of Underwood\'s Radiator Shop in Bristol, and was a truck driver for Gray\'s Dairy and Pepsi Cola. While driving a truck for TIME DC, he relocated to the Winchester, Va., area in 1969. After retiring from TIME, he was co-owner of A-Z Ceramics of Front Royal, Va. He later drove a truck for Tom Underwood Trucking and finally relocated to Bristol, Va. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Peggy Underwood; four daughters, Shirley McBee of Front Royal, Va., Audrey Buracker of Winchester, Va., and Brenda Wilson and Marilyn Buracker, both of Clearbrook, Va.; two sons, Tom Underwood of Niota, and Mike Underwood of Middletown, Va.; four sisters, Alphenia Key of Ooltewah, Rosteen Price of Knoxville, and Lorene Powers and Peggy Jo Mashburn, both of Athens; one brother, Cecil Underwood of Ten Mile; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family received friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Blevins Funeral Services. Funeral services followed at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Burnette and Pastor Robert Howard officiating. Burial was 11 a.m. Monday in Mountain View Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his sons, Tom and Mike Underwood, and his grandsons, Gary L. Wood Jr., Joe Nail, Jesse Buracker, Michael Underwood and Tyler Underwood.
