Amy Jean Burger

A native of McMinn County, she had lived in Knoxville for the past 20 years. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Millard and Dorothy Burger; and her maternal grandparents, Winfred and Mattie Coleman. Also preceding her in death by a few days was her 19 year old Flame-point Himalayan cat, Melvin.
She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized as a teenager. She was raised in a Seventh-Day Adventist Christian home and was educated in the Adventist church school system. She was a 1985 graduate of Fletcher Academy in Fletcher, N.C. She was a licensed cosmetologist and worked at several Knoxville industries including TTL Corp., CPI and Webtec Converting. She had a beautiful alto voice and loved to play hymns on her antique baby grand piano.
Survivors include her parents, Peggy and David Burger of Englewood; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Dawn and Eric Gunderson of Goodlettsville, and Rachael Burger and her friend, Dave Roberts, of Athens; two nephews, Coley and Caleb Gunderson, both of Goodlettsville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Smith Funeral & Cremation Service with the Pastor John Cooper and Pastor Ron Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Ray III, Tracey Simpson, Jim Bowers, Jim Dalton, Sam Black, James Chapman, Rick McNutt and Jeff McNutt.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
