Robert J. Baker

A lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Russell and Alice Townsend Baker. He was a member of Bethel Springs Baptist Church, and a member of the Masons. He was retired as an ironworker from TVA Local 704 of Chattanooga.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Buchanan Baker of Calhoun; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Tim Taylor of Cleveland, and Tammie and Jeff Parker of Oakman, Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Amanda Baker of Cleveland; one stepdaughter and her husband, Mary and Jim Roberts of Kingston; four stepsons and their wives, J.R. and Heidi Pierce of Cleveland, Tim and Donna Pierce and Doug and Jackie Pierce, all of Athens, and Rodney and Christine Pierce of Cleveland; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, John T. Baker of Lamontville.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Smith Funeral & Cremation Service with the Rev. Jody Cagle officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mathew Taylor, Kyle Parker, Kevin Parker, Eric Pierce, Josh Pierce, Aaron Baker, Johnny Baker and Zack Pierce.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
