MCMINN COUNTY NOVEMBER ELECTION NOTICE
Pursuant to TCA §2-12-111(a) notice is hereby given to the Voters of McMinn County that McMinn County will
hold a Federal/State General Election on November 4, 2014. In conjunction with this election, McMinn County
Election Commission will be holding City Elections for the following cities on November 4, 2014:
CITY OF ATHENS				CITY OF CALHOUN

				TO ELECT THE FOLLOWING:
				MAYOR- 4 YEAR TERM
				2-CITY COMMISSIONERS-4 YEAR TERM
• The first day to pick-up a petition for the November 4, 2014, City Elections was May 23, 2014.
• Qualifying deadline for city positions will be Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 12:00 NOON.
• The Withdrawal deadline will be August 28, 2014 at 12:00 NOON.
• The first day for armed forces, spouses, and overseas voters to request an absentee ballot for this election was
January 1, 2014.
• The first day to request an absentee ballot other than armed forces and overseas voters for the
November 4, 2014, Election is August 6, 2014.
• The last day to register to vote for this election will be October 6, 2014.
• The last day to receive an absentee request to vote by mail will be October 28, 2014.
• To vote in these city elections or to run for one of the city positions, you must be a registered voter in your
respective city and meet the qualifying requirements.

Public Notice for Elderly Voters or Voters with Disabilities
  Any elderly voter or voter with a disability whose polling place is inaccessible may vote early, by absentee ballot,
or at the Election Commission Office on Election Day.
  If the voter chooses to vote at the Election Commission Office on Election Day, they must complete an affidavit
at the Election Commission Office no later than October 25, 2014, stating that their designated voting location is
not accessible.
Photo ID Requirements for All Voters
  Tennessee state law requires all voters voting in person to present a Federal or a State of Tennessee issued photo
ID. The ID must contain the voter’s name and photograph. For more information you may contact our office at

The Election Commission will be closed for the following holiday schedule: Labor Day, September 1, 2014
